Atkinsons ties and neckwear: a tradition of excellence.

Established in 1820, Atkinsons has over 200 years of experience in quality tie manufacturing. We are thrilled to offer a range of their country pursuits and game ties in Pure Silk and Wool Poplin.

Atkinsons dates its provenance to the 17th Century, when the Huguenots brought their silk weaving craft to Ireland. Introducing a high quality local wool to their silk warps, Irish Poplin was born. The name Poplin itself is derived from the French “Papelin” or “Lin du Pape”, a pure silk cloth used in robes when there was a Papal seat in Avignon, France.

Fast forward to 1820, when Richard Atkinson became the pioneer in the development of Irish Poplin. Passed down through generations, Atkinson developed this craft from a cottage industry into a renowned company. Recognised as a generous philanthropist, he even served twice as Lord Mayor of Dublin.

Gaining an established popularity both in Ireland and abroad, Atkinsons even received a Royal Warrant from Queen Victoria as well as other Royal houses around Europe. Today, Royal patronage means that their products are often worn on Royal occasions.

Atkinsons ties and neckwear continue to have a wide following, their distinctive designs with rich colours appealing to classic fashion enthusiasts and the well-dressed around the globe.
