Alpaca Wool

Alpaca wool (or alpaca hair as it is also called) has a hollow fibre which renders it uniquely light and significantly warmer than the same weight of merino wool. Alpacas are South American members of the Camel family and have especially fine soft fleece. The live at higher altitudes than their cousin the Lamas and so have a fine micron hair with a hollow fibre. It has other advantages in that the wool has no lanolin in and so it hypoallergenic. It is so soft it has a no prickle feel to it and has the added bonus of being naturally anti-microbial.
