Announcing that Elm Of Burford is now stocking the popular new brand: Wop-Wops
Liked so much we have joined forces with them (see below)
The term ‘wop-wops’ or alternately ‘woop-woops’ comes from Australia and New Zealand and means out in the sticks. It actually means it in a bit more extreme way than that, meaning so far in the sticks, you are about as far as can be from town, village or anything urban. The back of beyond is a good analogy.
The founder of Wop-Wops while working on a rural farm in New Zealand came up with the idea of making the work of workwear they have there for the UK and Irish Country Clothing market and Wop-Wops was created. All of their clothing is designed to be hardwearing country workwear.
Jeans
Wop-Wops Jeans are designed to last. Made out of Heavy Weight 13oz denim which 90% cotton and a bit of polyester (8%) and elastine (2%) for durability and comfort. The combination means they hold their shape, while wearing in comfortably and well. They are built to last as proper work jeans, while maintaining their style.
Work Shirts
Wop-Wops work shirts have become a favourite among farmers, stockmen, and outdoor enthusiasts thanks to their combination of practicality and authentic rural style. Designed to withstand the demands of everyday life on the land, these work shirts offer comfort, durability, and a timeless country look that works just as well off the farm as it does on it.

Wop-Wops Work Shirts: Country Style Inspired by a Local Longhorn
At Elm Of Burford, we’ve added our own unique touch to the popular Waikari and Rata work shirts with an exclusive design inspired by one very special local longhorn.

The inspiration came from our shirt designer, Lucy, during a visit to the farm where her partner works. There she met the impressive cattle of Gentons Longhorns, based in the nearby village of Milcombe. Among the herd, one cow stood out from the rest – Gentons Vera.

Vera is a beautiful young longhorn with a calm nature and a gentle temperament. This year marked an exciting milestone as she successfully welcomed her first calf, Gentons Anna. With her striking appearance and kind eye, Vera quickly earned her place on the Gentons show team and has already enjoyed a successful showing season.
Both Vera and Anna represented Gentons Longhorns at the Three Counties Show this year, where they attracted plenty of attention from visitors and judges alike. Their show season continues with a trip to the prestigious Great Yorkshire Show, where the Gentons team will once again be showcasing the quality and character of their longhorn cattle.
We are proud to feature Vera on the back of our exclusive Wop-Wops work shirts. Her image captures everything we love about country life – strength, heritage, beauty, and a connection to the land. The result is a work shirt that not only performs in the toughest conditions but also tells a story rooted in the local farming community.
Wop-Wops Work Shirts: Country Style Inspired by Riding
Western riding in the hills and mountains of Montana is a dream for most and for the lucky ones a dream realised. In 2000 my Mum and I got the chance and took it. We rode up mountain trails, riding with the cattle herds, all on Sweet Grass Ranch. Our Quarter Horse adventure was fulfilled by these calm, strong and generally amazing animals. We have to go again and so the reality turns back to a dream. We hope you like this Limited Edition Western Scene. – Robyn from Elm Of Burford

Lucy from Elm Of Burford, who loves riding too and came up with this design, had this to say:
Horse riding has always been a huge part of my life, so creating this piece felt incredibly personal. After many inspiring conversations with Robyn, I found myself looking back through some of my favourite photos of me and my horse. Those moments sparked the idea to transform something deeply meaningful into a creative project with a bold Western twist.
I wanted to capture more than just the image -I wanted to bring to life the freedom, adventure, and timeless spirit of the Western lifestyle. Blending my own experiences with a fresh artistic style made this project even more special, turning treasured memories into something unique and full of character. It’s a celebration of my passion for horses, the bond we share, and the inspiration that can come from meaningful conversations and unforgettable moments in the saddle.
Whether you’re working outdoors, attending agricultural shows, or simply appreciate quality country clothing, our exclusive Wop-Wops work shirts offer the perfect combination of function and style.
Wop-Wops attended, at our stand, The Royal Highland Show for the Embroidered Shirt Launch. We were going to launch them on the website too but they sold out at the show, they were so popular. We have a large amount of embroidered and non embroidered stock arriving now and Wop-Wops will be attending at our stand at The Great Yorkshire Show too. Grab them while you can.
Visit Elm of Burford both at the shop or at the shows, to discover the collection and wear a piece of local farming heritage wherever you go.
